How does Verizon Internet work?

Fios Internet is powered by a 100% fiber-optic network, which transmits digital data via pulses of light along strands of fiberglass. Because fiberglass imposes less resistance than cable internet’s coaxial wires, Verizon Fios Internet customers enjoy a faster, more reliable connection, with enough bandwidth to support multiple devices and users at once.

How to set up Verizon Internet

  1. Call to order Verizon Fios Internet. You can choose self-installation to set up Fios Internet
  2. Watch for your Self-Installation Kit to arrive in the mail. It should arrive a few days before your Verizon Internet service begins.
  3. Follow the instructions included in the Self-Installation User Guide to set up Verizon Internet service.
  4. Activate your service at activate.verizon.net.
  5. Connect your wireless devices to your new network. Your network name and wireless password can be found on your router; see the User Guide for details.
